LTE modem fail after RouterOS update

Sun Feb 11, 2024 2:17 pm

Hi All,

after I upgraded my Chateau 18 AX to 7.13.4 version my LTE modem fail to connect to wireless network often and willingly.

When I see the network disconnected, the modem dissapear from the list of the interface in Webfig. Never saw something like this.

At this moment I have the EG18EAPAR01A13M4G version of modem fw.

Can I downgrade this fw with the previous one? If yes, where I find?

Thanx in advance

Massimo

I tried and got:
"Search found 18861 matches: LTE"
(including the above two posts)

EDIT: Now they are 18862 ...

I'm more in favor using Google for advanced search since forum posts are public, with Google you can combine keywords with and/or/not logic, search sentence, etc.., just add site:forum.mikrotik.com in query to search only MT forum site, eg. for this https://www.google.com/search?q=lte+dis ... krotik.com.

If you don't find anything helpful you can ask MT support at support@mikrotik.com including supout.rif file, https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ROS/Supout.rif

Check this topic, if you have the problem of the same LTE firmware: viewtopic.php?p=1055337&sid=94bcd4a2f2e ... 8aeb6c4762

Different modem than here (Quectel vs Fibocom). I think it's worthwhile to put in a ticket, with a supout.rif generated from winbox. You can brick a modem if things are done wrong as the modem firmware upgrade/downgrade is rather complex internally.

You also can also try installing 7.14 from the "testing" channel. There are a lot of LTE changes in that build & perhaps it's better "aligned" to the new firmware, but dunno.

e.g. upgrading to beta 7.14 build may be easier to try, while waiting for support. You can downgrade RouterOS if that causes more problems. But there is not process built-in process downgrade modem firmware.

Never said there ain't problems. ;) Issue is the EG18EA in the Chateau here is different modem.

But more tickets at help.mikrotik.com makes them aware. And 7.14 changelog does list a lot of LTE fixes.

I'm sure google/etc could turn up the firmware file. And maybe the EG18EA modem is linked here someplace... When you do the file-based LTE upgrade, I'm not sure what checks RouterOS does to validate it's right – modem likely reject if wrong.... just saying be cautious.
