BGP High CPU Utilization

Tue Aug 15, 2023 5:37 pm

Hi,
I am finished my migration from Cisco to Mikrotik CCR1072-1G-8S+ that currently running 7.11rc2 software version. There are 3 BGP uplink session exist - one for full view BGP table, two other for the local exchange with about 140 000 routes. All peering are using input and output Affinity alone. No any other complicated configuration just some filtering and forwarding between vlan.
The router is unusable in this configuration:
One random CPU are always 100% loaded.
All BGP command for check advertisement are very long responding from terminal and winbox.
Exporting ip route is always completed by timeoute.
It is seems to me that multi kernal is not working at all or may be i miss something.
Please help me with this issue.

You may be able to spread the load over more cores by configuring affinity.
See the manual: https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ROS/BGP

If you are not using NAT please disable connection tracking and firewall rules and just like what pe1chl said play with affinity and check which settings works for your use case. you may also check this
