Cube 60 Pro ac

Fri Apr 26, 2024 10:59 am

Just installed a Cube 60Pro ac Wireless Wire pair.
This is still all new for me, however Im seeing that 60Ghz is working fine.
Distance wise from the 2 points is only 54metres according to the 60Ghz status page.
I'm finding 5ghz is connecting at really low speeds not sure why. I'm only 45metres apart.

60Ghz Status:
Freq: 66960
Signal: 80
MCS: 9
PHY Rate: 2.5Gbps
RSSI: -40 dB
TX Sector: 28
TX Sector Info: right 0.8 degrees, down 0.0 degrees
RX Sector 101
Distance 54.94m

5Ghz Status:
Channel: 5720/20-eeeC/ac/DP(15dBm)
Tx Rate: 86.6Mbps-20MHz/1S/SGI
Rx Rate: 6Mbps
Tx/Rx Signal Strength: -47/-46 dBm
Noise Floor: -105dBm
Signal To Noise: 59 dBm
Tx/Rx CCQ: 67%/62&
Overall TX CCQ: 67%
Distance: 1km.
Router OS: 6.49.13

Wanted to ask why 5Ghz is connection so slow? It was Rx/Tx both 6Mbps a few hours ago.
Distance saying 1km. Its only 45m physically apart.

I'm quite happy with 60Ghz performance, waiting for rain and winds to see if connection will be stable or not.
But just very curious about the 5Ghz connection, not sure why its so low at such small distances.

These are factory wireless wire configuration except, for me changing the passphrase on the wifis, and setting regulation to my country.
5Ghz Channel is set to Auto, Antenna Gain is 12dbi from factory.
I played around with Channel and Gain , neither made much difference.
Any ideas on why 5ghz is so slow?

Hi
Because the 5 GHz link is not used now

As soon as the 60 GHz link disappears
Then 5GHz will become fully active

Hi DenisPDA,

Thanks for replying.
1) Just another question, the Distance is estimated to be 1km for my 5Ghz link?
Physically, distance is suppose to be 50metres.
Is this also due to the reservation state rather than active state?

Is failsafe to 5ghz transparent? Or will it drop then instantly work again due to 5ghz being used?

2) I also noticed the GPS is disabled by default, is there any benefit to enabling this?
I have configured NTP client to get time from my local network.

3) Your stats signal seems really good (-33dbm), what distance is this at and is this with the Cube Pro?

4) Noticed you are using RouterOS v7.
I'm only running a really simple point to point (wireless wire) application, would I benefit from upgrading to v7?
I was abit afraid since a few mentions of certain things breaking for PTP on Cube Pro.
Then decided to stay on long term v6.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

Learn more about the Distance parameter at 5GHz
https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ROS/Wireless+Interface#WirelessInterface-Generalinterfaceproperties

Is failsafe to 5ghz transparent?
YES, in default configuration
But you can configure it differently (Interface > Bonding > bond* )
https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ROS/Bonding

I also noticed the GPS is disabled by default
I have never used GPS on Mikrotik devices
As a rule, GPS is used for positioning the link + adjustment

what distance is this at and is this with the Cube Pro
PTP Cube 60Pro ac link installed between buildings
The distance is very small and is 25 meters

Noticed you are using RouterOS v7.
I smoothly transfer all new installations and solutions to RoS v7
Cube 60Pro ac works stably on the current version 7.14.3
