ROS Downgrade issue

Mon Apr 15, 2024 3:04 pm

Dears,
I ask your support since I can not downgrade the ROS version.
I read several messages in the forum, but without success.
I have a RB5009 the one with PoE. It was running 7.14 and since I am experiencing an issue on the USB side, I upgraded to 7.14.2 and the problem now is different, so I was trying to go back to 7.14 to confirm this different behaviour, but I can not.
I copied routeros-7.14-arm64.npk to the root of the 5009 and it appears as a package in the list.
Then I hit the DOWNGRADE button, it ask me to reboot and I let the 5009 to reboot, then it comes up again, the routeros-7.14-arm64.npk is no more in the file list, but the version is still 7.14.2
I tried to download the zip file all_packages-arm-7.14.zip, unpacked and put all the files in the 5009 and again hit the downgrade.
In this case all the files are still there, but the version is always the 7.14.2

Where am I wrong?

Two things to check:
  1. list of currently installed packages. In order for downgrade/upgrade to succeed, files with all currently installed packages have to be uploaded to device.
  2. After performing next downgrade attempt and after you see it failed, check logs. It will always contain something about upgrade/downgrade at the very beginning of logs (right after reboot and before messages about initialization of various parts of device). Those logs should give some clue about the reason for failing to downgrade. One possible reason is that you uploaded files from all_packages-arm-7.14.zip while RB5009 is arm64.

Yes I had a look at the log and the very first line was something saying that the wireless package was missing.
For the above reason, I downloaded the complete zip file, extracted on the PC
the file
wireless-7.14-arm64.npk
was there
and then uploaded all of them to the root of the RB5009
In this case, after the rboot command, all the files were still in the root

I will tray again later
I used the ARM64 packages.

I understood where was the problem... my fault... i was confused.
- First try: I uploaded into the Tik just the router OS and got the error that wireless pkg was missing
- second try: i uploaded all the content of the zip file

I understood that the zip file contains everything but the ROS.

Sorry
