Switch advice, CSS610 poe and CRS310 together

Fri Mar 08, 2024 2:30 pm

I was thinking of ordering two switches.
CSS610-8P-2S+IN and CRS310-8G+2S+IN
My plan is connect them together via a 1m DAC cable on one of their SFP+ ports.

I want the CSS610 switch as a complement to the CRS310.
Mostly because of PoE+ and also the easy SwOS Lite.

Since there are no small CRS with PoE+ i find this combo as a solution.
Or do someone have another suggestion? The CRS310-8G+2S+IN in combination with some kind of a PoE switch. At least gigabit.

Depends on your needs. But without any context i'd generally want to pair a Switch with a Router. A more capable CPU in the mix might come handy when it has to do the lifting for two devices. Why not RB5009 or CCR2004?

I understand.
Ita only for switching with few ports. No need for more.

It's for learning and use of 1/2.5/10gbit ports for various pc machines.

Some will be multicast machine image deployment and some will be AVoIP testing and some just testing.

So I figured CRS310 would be great for that except not able to power some optional devices if needed.

PoE injectors will be required then.

Why my suggestion also was the CSS610 is also because it uses SwOS and I think that small switch would be a good complement. Also for learning. Use them both in a bond with either DAC or AOC Fiber. Practicing VLANs which i do not know enough about. I want to play, read and understand it more. For a more efficient use in such optional use case.
